Summer workshop with Matthew Sweeney
Mathew Sweeney returns for his third weeklong residency July 5-11, 2008
Matthew is known for his extrememly instructive and insightful workshops, as well as his adept hands-on adjustments and analytical manner in the classroom.
During his week at the Berskhire Ashtanga Center, participants will be able to experience the best of both worlds.
In his weekend workshop, Matthew will lead comprehensive morning and afternoon sessions, including an In-Depth Exploration of Primary Series, Introduction to Intermediate Series, and practical approaches to such topics as Jumping Back and Through, Backbending, and Inversions.
Matthew will run Mysore-style practice on weekday mornings, and will hold a series of Adjusting Skills classes on weekday evenings. Students will be required to enroll in all Mysore or Adjusting Skills classes to attend.
Traveling from Austrailia for his third U.S. teaching tour, Matthew Sweeney is author of "Astanga Yoga As It Is," an invaluable resource with down-to-earth information on the history, philosophy, and distinct techniques of ashtanga, as well as photos of the asanas and vinayasa from the Primary Series through Advanced B. He is sought-after as a teacher for his ability to articulate and explain even the most esoteric aspects of Ashtanga yoga, as well as his compassionate approach to meeting each individual where they are at in their practice.
More details on the workshop curriculum, schedule, and pricing will be posted as soon as the schedule and pricing is finalized. Enrollment in the Mysore practices will be limited, so if you are interested in attending, please contact bess@berkshireashtanga.com
